Tips for a Successful IT Career : by Tee Emm
Information Technology has taken our lives by storm. No matter who you are,you are bound to be affected by the advent of Information Technology. If technologies are about changing human life and improving its quality, noother technology does a better justice to this notion than IT.
We acknowledge the fact that Information Technology has, and will have, a driving - force impact on our lives. By the same token, Information Technology education and training is essential in today's environment.
We will talk about a few tips that can be consumed by young fellows who are either into IT Education or are entering into a professional IT Career. All this also applies equally well for people who are following some other profession 'applying' the Information Technology to their respective professional fields.
Tip 1: Identify yourself.
First off, identify yourself. Ask yourself if you would want to be an IT-Enabled Professional or a pure IT Professional? While apparently simple, this could be a tricky question. You could either be a 'Database Administrator' or a 'Finance Executive who does his Databases on his own'. You could be a 'CAD/CAM Guru' or a 'Mechanical Engineer who does everything on his machine'.
Once you answer this question, you are done with finding the right balance to strike between the endeavors in your professional career (or education) and your IT career (or education). The earlier you identify yourself, the less time you are likely to waste in a wrong direction.
Tip 2: Identify Your Key Technology Area. Information Technology is sort of a Swiss knife with all sorts of stuff bundled under the same label. There is a multitude of areas that can be classified under the IT umbrella and they are as diversified as they could possibly be. (Consider the divide between Computer Graphic Designing and Database Development - all being popularly
bundled under the two-letter magic word! )
One of the most important things you need to decide right in the beginning is the Key Technology Area you would be following in the rest of your foreseeable future. Of course, being dynamic in terms of goals and ambitions is good but there is a lot of difference between being dynamic and being undecided. If you are just getting into IT education, it's okay to take a diet that is a mix of a handful of technologies. But otherwise, you need to decide your key technology area. Nothing is more painful than to see someone into an IT career for tens of months being still undecided on this essential issue.
Tip 3: Don't Forget the Basics:
Whether you are into IT education or pursuing a professional career related to Information Technology, it is of utmost importance that you keep the 'basic rules and principles' of your technology in front of you all the time. Once you know what key technical area you belong to, identify basic rules and principles of that area. You would learn a few from the text books, a few from gurus around you and yet a few more from your own (most bad!) experiences.
If the current trend is to carry on, your 'Inbox' will remain a constant source of buzzwords and jargons that are constantly shot at you. These buzzwords and jargons usually tend to de-focus the activities of an average IT professional. You should be able to filter through this buzzword bombardment, sorting out the essentials from the junk. The mantra is to keep applying new trends and technologies in your respective interest areas as long as they go in-line with the basic rules and principals.
The quality of your day to day work and projects will depend greatly on the fact whether you kept the basics in mind while working on them or not. No amount of money or multitude of expensive equipment can undo the wrongs instigated because basic rules and principals were ignored in the design phase of a project. Learn your basics. And remember them!
Tip 4: Make Smart Use of Internet.
Today's corporate environment (and for that matter, IT Education campus) is extremely competitive. Unless you are the owner of your company, you either move up in the organization, or you move out of it. Remaining ahead of the rest of the crowd is a tricky job and requires a constant effort on your part. If you are pursuing a career in Information Technology, it is almost certain that Internet can be the very
tool you need to achieve this target of being a leader.
Making smart use of Internet sounds rather a trivial idea but just give it a thought and you would be amazed to see how often your class-fellows and co-workers get stuck up - and remain there - with issues answers to which are just a few keystrokes and clicks away. Making smart use of Internet might require some 'forced' practice for a few of us. Every time you face an issue, ask yourself how to address it by making an intelligent use of the Internet. With practice, you will see that making smart use of Internet lifts your efficiency levels up.
People who make smart use of Internet find themselves leading the crowd. Whether you are a student or a worker, remember that whatever you are doing now must have been done by someone out there. Remember that whatever stuff you are looking for, it might already be present on the Internet. Once again, there is a lot of difference between indulging in plagiarism and avoiding re-inventing the wheel every time you need one!
Tip 5: Interact.
As you move ahead in your IT career, you will realize how important it is to consolidate the new information and techniques that you learn everyday. Thanks to Internet, you can remain a student of your related field for as long as you desire. As new information makes its way to you, you would want to absorb all of it. This is a difficult job unless you make sure that you consolidate your existing information load on a regular basis.
A proven technique of strengthening your knowledge is 'Interaction' with others in the same field. What you teach to others is guaranteed to remain fresh in your mind for a very long time. As soon as you learn a new technique that relates to your area, teach it to someone. And this teach-to-learn exercise needs not be a formal one in a conventional class-room style. It can very well be done as you drive you buddy in your car to drop him home.
Like the rest of the things, Internet let you 'interact' in new, more exciting and more efficient ways. Identify your key technology area and then you can either join in an existing interest group or better still, identify people around you who have a potential for it and form a group of your own. Start a small, local mailing list for the group. Use free group-tools such as Yahoo! Groups (http://groups.yahoo.com) or Smartgroups (http://www.smartgroups.com) to build your community. Help people who are
new to the interest group making use of whatever you have learnt in the past.
If you are more confident, you can go even further. Team up with a few more people who are technically sound in your area of interest and organize 'Boot Camps' and short duration 'Workshops' for those who are new to your technology area. If you decide to be helpful, you would be amazed to see how much interested people could get.
You can also consider giving a try to technical writing. Technical writing can take many different shapes. You can write How-To documents for stuff you think you are good at. ('How-tos' are documents that target specific issues within a given technology area describing very precisely how to go about doing any thing). You can also write 'Beginners Guides' on topics that interest you. In the beginning, you can get you write-ups peer reviewed so that they are okay for consumption. Mailing lists could be great for this peer reviewing.
Tip 6: Keep a 'Book of Lessons'.
Try aintaining a small 'Book of Lessons'. A BoL is a set of very specific technical tips that you collect during your educational or professional career. Make a note of every lesson that you learn after an incident. Mistakes that ate up your entire days can be properly cashed if you derive proper lessons from them and then actually apply them afterwards. You can use an Internet blog to keep this BoL so that it is readily available over the Internet. [A blog is a facility that lets you maintain a log about anything off a website. You write your log on a website and when you publish it, it becomes the part of the website. For more information, check out http://www.blogger.com and
http://www.userland.com].
Tip 7: Develop a 'Financial Sense'.
People pursuing an IT career pose a general risk of being labeled as a 'purely technical' entity. People around you, and even you yourself, might end up marking limits around you that force you to remain a techy for the rest of your life. And it is not just about perceptions alone. A technical person who does not have a good financial sense would face problem sooner or later. Whether your job requires it or not, try to develop a financial sense that relates directly to your technology area.

Tabahii Masroofiyat...
Assalaam-O-Alaikum,
Hmmm......, Aray bhai logooon. Today was a very tough day for me. Aray at first I went to office and conducted lab after that I went to N.E.D, where I faced the bouncers from the teacher without having proper pading. Aray haaan yaaar, I had the exam over there. After three hours net practice I went back to office where I took three hours evening class.
Uff, when I went back to home I was feeling like I would never like to go back again, But I am sure in the morning my thoughts would be changed.
O' Allah give me power to face these days.
See you guys I am dozing off now.
Allah-Hafiz.

No Haya, No Life
its 7:07 pm PST,25th Ramadan...here is one more artlice from Albalagh.
By Khalid Baig
Imam Shu'bah ibn Hajjaj was riding his horse when Abdullah intercepted him. Abdullah was a known street urchin. Not only he was given to a life of sin, he was also unabashed about it. Imam Shu'bah knew that trouble was ahead when Abdullah stopped him.
Shu'bah (d. 100 A.H) is known as the "Amirul Momineen fil hadith." He is one of the foremost scholars of the science of Hadith Criticism. Abdullah knew his stature as a great hadith scholar, but he was bent on having some fun. "Shu'bah! Tell me a hadith," he said with mischief in his eyes. "This is not the way to learn hadith," Imam Shu'bah replied. "You are going to tell me a hadith or else…" Abdullah threatened. When Shu'bah realized that he could not talk his way out of this he said: "OK, I'll tell you a hadith." He then narrated the isnad (a chain of narrators) and then the hadith: "Prophet Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam said: "If you have lost haya then do whatever you feel like."
Abdullah's demeanor changed suddenly. It was as if the Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, had himself caught him in his mischief and was speaking to him: "Abdullah, if you have lost haya then do whatever you feel like." He was totally shaken. "I just wanted to cause trouble for you," he admitted, "but please extend your hand. I want to repent."
This hadith turned a life around. Abdullah, the street urchin, became a student and then a great scholar of hadith. Today he is known as Abdullah ibn Maslamah Qan'awi. His name can be found repeatedly in Sihah Sitta or the six most authentic collections of hadith, especially in the collection of Imam Abu Dawud who was his disciple.
What is haya? It is normally translated as modesty or inhibition but neither word conveys the same idea as haya. Modesty suggests shunning indecent behavior but it also implies bashfulness based on timidity. That is why the adjective based on its opposite, immodest, is sometimes also used as a compliment suggesting courage. Inhibition is defined as: "Conscious or unconscious mechanism whereby unacceptable impulses are suppressed." This is a very neutral definition with no reference to right or wrong. So one finds psychiatrist "helping" their patients overcome inhibitions.
In contrast to the moral ambiguity of these words, haya refers to an extremely desirable quality that protects us from all evil. It is a natural feeling that brings us pain at the very idea of committing a wrong.
Along with its unique connotation comes the unique value of haya in Islam. Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, said: "Every religion has a distinct call. For Islam it is haya." [Ibn Majah]. Another famous hadith says: "There are more than 70 branches of Iman (Faith). The foremost is the declaration that there is no god except Allah and the least of it is removing harmful things from the path. And haya is a branch of Iman." [Bukhari, Muslim]. As some Muhaditheen point out, the number 70 is a figure of speech. What the hadith tells us is that the declaration of faith is the most important part of Iman but that is not all. Iman also has to reflect itself in all kinds of actions in real life. Moreover, haya is a centerpiece of most of the actions that Iman calls for. It is the basic building block of Islamic morality. When it is lost everything is lost.
Based on such teachings, Islam brought about a moral revolution of unprecedented dimensions with haya as its cornerstone. The pre-Islamic Jahilya society of Arabia knew the word but did not understand its meaning. Nudity, the antithesis of haya, was not only common in every day life, it was even part of the most important religious ritual of tawaf (circumbulation of Ka'bah). So were all the other evils that flow from it. Islam exterminated all of those evils and changed the society in such a way that haya became one of its most cherished values. To this day in Friday Khutbahs around the world, the third Khalifah Hazrat Usman Radi Allahu unhu is mentioned as the person with perfect haya and perfect Iman (Kamil lil-haya wal Iman). Is there any other religion that celebrates haya like that?
Islam's laws about hijab, its ban against free mixing of men and women, its teachings about gender-relations --- all of these reflect a deep concern for haya.
For men and women who have not lost their haya, these come naturally. There is a moving story from the earlier Islamic period about a woman who learnt that her young son had been lost in a battle. She ran in a panic to confirm the news, but before that she took time to make sure that she covered herself fully in accordance with the newly revealed laws of hijab. She was asked how did she manage to do that in a time of great personal tragedy. She replied: "I have lost my son, but I did not lose my haya."
And for centuries afterwards Muslim societies did not lose their haya. When Muslim lands came under the western colonial rule about three centuries ago, they were faced with a civilization that was no different than the pre-Islamic Jahilya on the issue of haya. While it did not have better morality, it did have better guns. At the gunpoint of military and political domination, Muslim societies were made to loose their grip on haya on the collective scale. The powerful and attractive media became an important instrument in this war. First it was books, magazines and newspapers. Then radio. Now it is television. Together they projected ideas and images detrimental to haya. They made indecency attractive. The pace was increased tremendously by television, which has shown more firepower than all the previous media combined.
When historians write about the moral decline in Muslim societies in the twentieth century, they will probably underscore television in subverting the moral fabric of society. We can get a sense of the rapidity of our fall by realizing that what was unthinkable just a decade ago has become routinely accepted today. In some cases, we seem to have lost all control. Isn't it shocking that while contraceptive ads cannot be shown on TV in the U.S. or U.K for moral reasons, they are freely shown in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan?
We can get out of the morass by making haya as our number one concern in both individual as well as public lives. There is no Islamic life without Islamic morality. There is no Islamic morality without haya.

Learn to call on Allah
Asslamo Aleykum ....an untitled poem by an Anon ...but its awful
Learn to call on Allah,
In the dark,
While Riding on a bus,
Or sitting in a park
Learn to do it when,
Alone in a room,
Or staying up late,
Staring at the moon
And if someone boasts about,
What he did for Allah,
And asks you to tell him,
What you did for Allah
Just Say, "Why should I tell you"
If I did it for Allah?"
Learn to call on Allah,
In the dark,
While Riding on a bus,
Or sitting in a park
Learn to do it when,
Alone in a room,
Or staying up late,
Staring at the moon
And if someone boasts about,
What he did for Allah,
And asks you to tell him,
What you did for Allah
Just Say, "Why should I tell you"
If I did it for Allah?"

The Value of Words

"Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should say something good or keep quiet." [Bukhari]
Famous companion, Sayyidna Muaz ibn Jabal, Radi-Allahu anhu, once asked the Prophet Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, "Tell me about an act that will cause me to enter Paradise and be protected from the Fire." "You have indeed asked something profound," responded the Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, "But it will be easy on whom Allah makes it easy. Worship Allah and do not associate any partners with Him. Establish regular Salat, pay Zakat, fast during Ramadan, and perform Hajj." Then he asked "Shall I not tell you about the doors of good: fast is a shield (against sins and against Hell-fire), charity extinguishes sins like water extinguishes fire; and the midnight Salat (the voluntary Tahajjud Salat)." Then he recited this verse: "Their limbs do forsake their beds of sleep, while they call on their Lord, in Fear and Hope: and they spend (in charity) out of the sustenance which We have bestowed on them." [As-Sajda 32:16]
Then he continued: "Shall I tell you about the beginning, the mainstay and the high point of this? The beginning is (acceptance of) Islam; It's mainstay is Salat; it's highest point is Jihad."
Then the Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, asked: "Shall I tell you about the thing on which all this depends?" He, then held his tongue and said "Guard this." Sayyidna Muaz ibn Jabal, Radi-Allahu anhu, asked: "Shall we be questioned about our utterances?" On this the Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, said, "Most people will be thrown into Hell---face down---because of the transgressions of their tongues."
The ability to speak and express themselves separates human beings from animals. The proper use of this great gift---or its absence---separates the good and successful people from the bad and unsuccessful ones.
Sayyidna Mu'adh's question was about eternal success. In response, the hadith mentions both mandatory and voluntary good deeds that cover a person's entire life. But then we are reminded that the outcome of all these depends upon guarding our tongue. In other words carelessness with the tongue can poke holes in all of our good deeds.
Another hadith highlights the same issue in a different way: "Every morning all the limbs of a person plead with his tongue: 'Fear Allah for our sake, for our fate is tied to yours. If you follow the straight path so shall we. And if you go astray so shall we.'"
Yet another hadith reminds us about the far reaching consequences of the words we utter. "Sometimes a person says something good but he does not realize how far will his words go. Yet it earns him the pleasure of Allah till the day he will meet Him. On the other hand sometimes a person says something bad, although he does not realize how far his words will go. Yet it earns him the wrath of Allah till the day he will meet Him." [Tirmizi, Ibn Maja, Muwwata Imam Malik].
The pre-Islamic Arab society was a very vocal society. While reading and writing were not that common, people did pride themselves in their facility with words---both prose and poetry. A person commanded respect based on his command over words. Using power of words only, they could sink reputations, start wars, and impact life in a similar fashion as modern media has come to demonstrate on a much larger scale. Then, as now, it was raw power like the power of the beasts of the Jungle.
Islam tamed this beast. It reminded us that each and every word we utter is being recorded by the angels and one day we will have to stand accountable for all this record. It reminded that a person's greatness lies not in how powerful he is with words but in how careful is he with them. It reminded that it is better to keep silent than to say something bad. And it is better to say something good than to keep quiet.
The social revolution it engendered was unprecedented. It produced a people who truly understood the value of words and who were as pious with them as they had been powerful. Their silence was the silence of quiet reflection. And they spoke only when they could improve the silence. Is it any wonder that even their extempore statements were pearls of wisdom.
Today, everywhere there are schools that can teach one how to read, write, and speak a language. But their students would never learn how to civilize this raw power; to use it only in promoting truth and spreading virtue; to never use it for promoting falsehood or spreading evil.
There is a lot of unlearning we have to do if we want to get out of this. It is a costly mistake for a believer to think that talk is cheap; that you can say whatever is expedient without any concern for any consequences beyond the immediate ones.
Such attitudes, prevalent today, lead to all kinds of sins: vain pursuits, gossip, dishonesty, insincerity, arrogance, belittling others, backbiting, spreading scandals and corruption, telling lies. Each of these has been clearly defined as a deadly sin by the Qur'an and Hadith. The treatment for each of these sins begins with learning the Islamically responsible use of the tongue. Then there are secondary problems caused in turn by these. In fact most of the problems in the family, in the society, and even between countries are either created or augmented by the irresponsible use of the tongue.
Modern communication technologies have made it possible for messages to be transmitted instantaneously all over the globe. But as the world marvels at these achievements, it continues to confuse the speed of a message with its quality and value. We pride ourselves on the ability to spread trash around the world at the speed of light. Witness the rubbish that continues to dominate the Internet alone. We are amazed by the sophisticated techniques of telling lies in a convincing manner. Witness the modern mainstream media machine and its hold on our thoughts and actions.
The "information age" is begging for the moral guidance of Islam.

Message of Ramadan
Asslamo Aleykum ppl...Aay Dee here...yes in Ramadan its very hard to find time slot for blog...yep, its easy to put some good articles :-)..so here is one good article from Albalagh.
JazakAllah!
By Khalid Baig
We observe Ramadan every year. Do we also listen to it?
Ramadan is the most important month of our calendar. It is a tremendous gift from Allah in so many ways. In our current state of being down and out, it can uplift us, empower us, and turn around our situation individually and collectively. It is the spring season for the garden of Islam when dry grass can come back to life and flowers bloom. But these benefits are not promised for lifeless and thoughtless rituals alone. They will be ours if our actions are informed by the message of Ramadan.
Today the message of Ramadan tends to get drowned out by much louder voices of the pop culture that have an opposite message. We have become so accustomed to them that many of us remain enslaved to them even during Ramadan.
The most important message of Ramadan is that we are not just body. We are body and soul. And that what makes us human beings and that determines our value as human beings is the soul and not the body. During Ramadan we deprive the body to uplift the soul. This is all simple and familiar. But we can understand its significance if we remember that the message of the materialistic hedonistic global pop culture that has engulfed every Muslim land today --- just like the rest of the world--- is exactly the opposite. It says that body is everything. That the materialistic world is all that counts. That the greatest happiness -- if not virtue-- is in filling the appetites of the body. This message produces endless appetites and consequently endless wars to fill those endless appetites through endless exploitation. It produces endless frustrations since the gap between desires and achievements can never be filled. It produces endless chaos and endless oppression. Yet this trash comes in such beautiful and enticing packages that we can hardly resist it. We equate this slavery with freedom. We consider this march to disaster as progress. And with every movement, we get further and deeper into the mire.
The message of the materialistic hedonistic global pop culture that has engulfed every Muslim land today is exactly the opposite of the message of Ramadan.
Ramadan is here to liberate us from all this. Here is a powerful message that it is soul over body. Take a break from the pop culture. Turn off the music and TV. Say goodbye to the endless and futile pursuit of happiness in sensory pleasures. Rediscover your inner self that has been buried deep under it. Reorient yourself. Devote your time to the reading of the Qur'an, to voluntary worship, to prayers and conversations with Allah. Reflect on the direction of your life and your priorities. Reflect on and strengthen your relationship with your Creator.
On the last day of one Sha'ban, Prophet MuhammadSall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, gave a Khutbah about the upcoming month of Ramadan. It is a very important Khutbah that we should carefully read before every Ramadan to prepare ourselves mentally for the sacred month. It begins: "Oh people! A great month is coming to you. A blessed month. A month in which there is one night that is better than a thousand months. A month in which Allah has made it compulsory upon you to fast by day, and voluntary to pray by night. Whoever draws nearer to Allah by performing any of the voluntary good deeds in this month shall receive the same reward as is there for performing an obligatory deed at any other time. And whoever discharges an obligatory deed in this month shall receive the reward of performing seventy obligations at any other time. It is the month of Sabr (patience), and the reward for sabr is Heaven. It is the month of kindness and charity. It is a month in which a believer's sustenance is increased. Whoever gives food to a fasting person to break his fast, shall have his sins forgiven, and he will be saved from the Fire of Hell, and he shall have the same reward as the fasting person, without the latter's reward being diminished at all."
The hadith continues and contains many other very important messages. However let us take the time to highlight two of the statements contained above. First, that Ramadan is the month of sabr. The English translation is patience but that word has a very narrow meaning compared to sabr. Sabr means not only patience and perseverance in the face of difficulties, it also means being steadfast in avoiding sin in the face of temptations and being persistent in performing virtues when that is not easy. Overcoming hunger and thirst during fasting is part of it. But protecting our eyes, ears, minds, tongues, and hands, etc. from all sins is also part of it. So is being persistent in doing good deeds as much as possible despite external or internal obstacles. Ramadan requires sabr in its fullest sense and provides a training ground for that very important quality to be developed and nurtured. Here is a recipe for the complete overhaul of our life, not just a small adjustment in meal times.
The highest point of Ramadan is itikaf, an act of worship in which a person secludes himself in a masjid to devote his time entirely to worshipping and remembering Allah. Some in every Muslim community must take a break and go to the masjid for the entire last ten days of Ramadan. Others should imbibe the spirit and do whatever they can.
But we must differentiate between worldly pleasures and worldly responsibilities. We take a break from the former and not the latter. Syedna Abdullah ibn Abbas, Radi-Allahu unhu, was performing itikaf, when a person came and sat down silently. Sensing his distressed condition Ibn Abbas enquired about his situation, learnt that he needed help, and proceeded to leave the masjid to go out and help him. Now this action does nullify the itikaf, making a makeup obligatory. So the person, though grateful, was curious. Explaining his action, Ibn Abbas related a hadith that when a person makes efforts to help his brother, he earns the reward for performing itikaf for ten years.
This brings us to the second statement to consider: that Ramadan is the month of kindness and charity. With those in distress in the millions in the world today, the need for remembering this message of Ramadan cannot be overstated.
Unfortunately, today another scene seems to be dominant in some parts of the Muslim world. Here Ramadan is the month of celebrations, shopping, fancy iftars at posh restaurants, entertainment and gossip. People stay up at night but not for worship; they while away that time watching TV or wandering in the bazaar. Ramadan here is more a month of feasting than fasting.
No one can take away our Ramadan from us; we just give it away ourselves. And if we realize the utter blunder we have made, we can take it back.
JazakAllah!

Assalaam-O-Alaikum,
Janab! You said the word Molvi and mentioned that it means someone who thinks, his lame knowledge is the last word to stand. Well, you used this word as Satan used a drop of honey to start a fight. What I have observed from your blog is that you are one of those who think of your self out of any restrictions. My friend, the way you have used word Molvi, It looked to me that one day you would use some prestigious personality of Islam in twisted brand of statements.Bhai Meray, It is good to tell the truth without any fear i.e. Amar Bil Maroo Wa Nahee Anil Munkar. But would have to take care that we should not blame somebody with what he is not. I have seen people saying to every person having beard, Assalaam-O-Alaikum, Molvi Sahab. Bhai, people now-a-days have become so repetitive in saying things that they don’t even think while they are saying. I agree with Zubair bhai, keh Molvi is the person who is Alim (Scholar). People don’t think what they are supporting and I see Fidaa bhai congratulating for using this word for short sightened people. While I was thinking to defend this thing against you I see Abbas sahib giving one more definition of word molvi. Aray bahi, you can’t tackle each and every person with same attitude only because you guys had some mishaps or didn’t have a good experience.
Religion related stuff is not like keh you say 2+2 = 4. It is much more complex, so, please avoid using such statements which you educated but seemingly illiterate person don’t know what it really means.

The Meaning of Ramadan
By Khalid Baig
Fasting during Ramadan was ordained during the second year of Hijrah. Why not earlier? In Makkah the economic conditions of the Muslims were bad. They were being persecuted. Often days would go by before they had anything to eat. It is easy to skip meals if you don’t have any. Obviously fasting would have been easier under the circumstances. So why not then?
The answer may be that Ramadan is not only about skipping meals. While fasting is an integral and paramount part of it, Ramadan offers a comprehensive program for our spiritual overhaul. The entire program required the peace and security that was offered by Madinah.
Yes, Ramadan is the most important month of the year. It is the month that the believers await with eagerness. At the beginning of Rajab --- two full months before Ramadan --- the Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, used to supplicate thus: "O Allah! Bless us during Rajab and Sha’ban, and let us reach Ramadan (in good health)."
During Ramadan the believers get busy seeking Allah’s mercy, forgiveness, and protection from Hellfire. This is the month for renewing our commitment and re-establishing our relationship with our Creator. It is the spring season for goodness and virtues when righteousness blossoms throughout the Muslim communities. "If we combine all the blessings of the other eleven months, they would not add up to the blessings of Ramadan," said the great scholar and reformer Shaikh Ahmed Farooqi (Mujaddad Alif Thani). It offers every Muslim an opportunity to strengthen his Iman, purify his heart and soul, and to remove the evil effects of the sins committed by him.
"Anyone who fasts during this month with purity of belief and with expectation of a good reward (from his Creator), will have his previous sins forgiven," said Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam. "Anyone who stands in prayers during its nights with purity of belief and expectation of a reward, will have his previous sins forgiven." As other ahadith tell us, the rewards for good deeds are multiplied manifold during Ramadan.
Along with the possibility of a great reward, there is the risk of a terrible loss. If we let any other month pass by carelessly, we just lost a month. If we do the same during Ramadan, we have lost everything. The person who misses just one day’s fast without a legitimate reason, cannot really make up for it even if he were to fast everyday for the rest of his life. And of the three persons that Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam cursed, one is the unfortunate Muslim who finds Ramadan in good health but does not use the opportunity to seek Allah’s mercy.
One who does not fast is obviously in this category, but so also is the person who fasts and prays but makes no effort to stay away from sins or attain purity of the heart through the numerous opportunities offered by Ramadan. The Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, warned us: "There are those who get nothing from their fast but hunger and thirst. There are those who get nothing from their nightly prayers but loss of sleep."
Those who understood this, for them Ramadan was indeed a very special month. In addition to fasting, mandatory Salat, and extra Travih Salat, they spent the whole month in acts of worship like voluntary Salat, Tilawa (recitation of Qur’an), Dhikr etc. After mentioning that this has been the tradition of the pious people of this Ummah throughout the centuries, Abul Hasan Ali Nadvi notes: " I have seen with my own eyes such ulema and mashaikh who used to finish recitation of the entire Qur’an everyday during Ramadan. They spent almost the entire night in prayers. They used to eat so little that one wondered how they could endure all this. These greats valued every moment of Ramadan and would not waste any of it in any other pursuit…Watching them made one believe the astounding stories of Ibada and devotion of our elders recorded by history."
This emphasis on these acts of worship may sound strange --- even misplaced --- to some. It requires some explanation. We know that the term Ibada (worship and obedience) in Islam applies not only to the formal acts of worship and devotion like Salat , Tilawa, and Dhikr, but it also applies to worldly acts when performed in obedience to Shariah and with the intention of pleasing Allah. Thus a believer going to work is performing Ibada when he seeks Halal income to discharge his responsibility as a bread-winner for the family. However a distinction must be made between the two. The first category consists of direct Ibada, acts that are required for their own sake. The second category consists of indirect Ibada --- worldly acts that become Ibada through proper intention and observation of Shariah. While the second category is important for it extends the idea of Ibada to our entire life, there is also a danger because by their very nature these acts can camouflage other motives. (Is my going to work really Ibada or am I actually in the rat race?). Here the direct Ibada comes to the rescue. Through them we can purify our motives, and re-establish our relationship with Allah.
Islam does not approve of monasticism. It does not ask us to permanently isolate ourselves from this world, since our test is in living here according to the Commands of our Creator. But it does ask us to take periodic breaks from it. The mandatory Salat (five daily prayers) is one example. For a few minutes every so many hours throughout the day, we leave the affairs of this world and appear before Allah to remind ourselves that none but He is worthy of worship and of our unfaltering obedience. Ramadan takes this to the next higher plane, providing intense training for a whole month.
This spirit is captured in I’tikaf, a unique Ibada associated with Ramadan, in which a person gives up all his normal activities and enters a mosque for a specific period. There is great merit in it and every Muslim community is encouraged to provide at least one person who will perform I’tikaf for the last ten days of Ramadan. But even those who cannot spare ten days are encouraged to spend as much time in the mosque as possible.
Through direct Ibada we "charge our batteries"; the indirect ones allow us to use the power so accumulated in driving the vehicle of our life. Ramadan is the month for rebuilding our spiritual strength. How much we benefit from it is up to us.

Incredible Informations..
Assalam-O-Alaikum,
I went to UIT yesterday at 1:08 and went to Chinyoot Mosque but the door was locked. So, I went back to UIT and had to wait till the end of lunch hour to get some document signed.
I decided to go to Canteen to have something to eat. I approached there and ordered a beef burger and pakola. I don't know why, but it seems to me as cows are too much onion and myoneez now-a-days. Cuz, both were in access in the burger. I am sure it’s not the fault of the Canteen men. Anyhow, some students started song:
Choli keh peechay kiyaa hay Cholii keh peechay
Chunrii keh neechay kiyaa hay Chunrii keh neechay
Khair, Then all the other students around him starting clapping. Khair, I just looked at them and remembered my times then thought keh yaaar, Garam khoon hey Garmii nain Taliyaan bajanay per majboor kar diya hay. Abb when I looked on the other side of the wall segregating boys and girls section and you know what got to know a weird knowledge. Aray bhaya, I had heard sometimes back keh, having mustache is becoming a fashion between girls. After sometime from the boys section someone from boys section called the girl I was talking about with a boy like name (I guess it was Waheed, Saleeem, or something) and I got astonished. Not only mustache but also her name is like boys.
Khair, I shooked my head and thrown all that new info in my mind and went to the office from where I had to take some certificates. Khair, Allah Allah kar keh, I got all the work done and went back to my office.
Uff! I am too tired now.
Insha-Allah, I’ll see you guys again.

UIT: I have no feeling for you.
Assalam-O-Alaikum,
Hmmm..., Didn't hear any clapping from you guys while I entered the blog. Khair, I will have to get use to it as I shouldn't be expecting much from some bunch of _________ ( you can fill it as it suits you).
Read Aay Dees blog, and I investigated myself to find out whether I am also in love with UIT as stated by my two dear x-fellows. But guys found a discouraging information for you guys. I have no feelings attatched with UIT. Now, please don't start I don't have time for you people's lame logics, I am better off with my feelings for things that can respond as well. For your information, I do have feelings about my teachers and I do thank them in my heart. But as far as UIT is concerned there is nothing that I feel about it. Can't answer to you people that why the things are so? because I would have to accumulate the reasons for that.
Hmmm..., nothing much is comming in my mind right now, so, I'll take a hike now.
Allah-Hafiz.

Fabi Ayi Ala-i Rab bikuma Tukaz ziban.
Assalaam-O-Alaikum,
Today, while I was browsing bbc i got to the link of Science and after reading the human body details I am really amazed that how complex we really are. According to it what ever feeling we have it is because of different harmones. Well, we are one of best creation of Allah and He has created us to the perfection. If even a single harmone stops developing inside a body the balance would be disturbed, meant, human is so weak. Our teeths will start to detoriate if the slyva in our mouth dies out. Even knowing all that sometimes human start fighting against Allah. I don't know why they forget all these stuffs while claiming something which is in control of Allah.
I just don't know why.
May Allah show us the right Path.
Allah-Hafiz.

The real summary of the match...
Assalaam-O-Alaikum,
Hmmm..., Done nothing much except sleeping the half day and watching cricket match for the remaining. Well, the match was great. I was looking at the match and every time they start running after the ball i remember some comments from my great grand mother while the last time she visited us.
Well, it happened somewhat like this:
She was sitting infront of T.V and mumbling and smillling onto something. She understands Punjabi only so, i asked her, "Babay kii hoyaa iii? Kiyooon Hansdii paii aiiy?" (Babay what happend? Why are you smilling? ). She said,"Yeh Apay hi Kehnoon sutday nain, Apay hi uss day peechay bhagtay nain, teh apay hii chuk lainday nain teh aik dunya Maidaan which bithaiii aiy"(They themselves throw the ball run after it and then pick it up while there is a huge amount people gathered to loook).
I hope from now on when you people will watch the match you'll be smilling tooo.
Allah-Hafiz.

Life with all the tensions.
Assalaam-O-Alaikum,
Well, looks like AaayDee has said something that i had been thinking for so long. Initially i was really worried about my job. And was working very hard to maintain it. One evening driving back to home I was so tired that literally dozing. I started thinking keh what kind of a life is this. Ain't it a machine like life. Is this why we are here? I decided to think more about it.So, i stopped by a thailaa and bought some peanuts. While i reached Quaidabad's bridge i parked my bike at the corner and sat on the pavement. The more i thought and remembered the past days since i have joined the office I realized keh yaaar, whenever any tension comes it looks like the bigger one than the previous one and after some times it passes by without doing any damage.
And during all this process i just do the routine work and Allah helps me dealing with them. Then suddenly angle of my thoughts changed and i started thinking keh what if tommorow a starts just like Afghanistan or Iraq, what will i do? How will i support my family? would this engineering degree be of any worth? My heart said nopse. Nothing would be capable of doing all these stuffs. At that time i realized keh yaaar, if i have to get 20,000 at the end of month i'll get it even if i don't have any engineering degree.
After that day I am relax and don't get worried about job's security and do my work honestly and professionally. Cuz, my boss is not the one who is feeding me. Its Allah who has the control over everything in this world.
Khair, sometimes Imaan Dagmagaa jataa hay. Laikin phir Alllah keh karam seh Humm rastay per ajaatay hain.
LaIlahah Illa Anta Subha naka Innni Kuntoo Minaz Zalimeeen.

Having Bed resT
Assalaam-O-Alaikum,
Hmmm......, you guys must have been very happy keh atlast the son of the devil is gone and life would be easy from now on. But believe me guys you people are living in your dreams. Although i am on bed rest and can't go upstairs to use my computer to write the blog and make you people's life hell. I took out my laptop and am writting the blog now. :)
Nice to hear from you Waheed. Eventhough i don't know you but its good to find someone alive on this part of the cyberspace named uitians blog. I am getting more technical now-a-days and studying javasript in more details. Hope Allah opens mind so that i can understand more about it.
Now-a-days, i am lying besides my Dada's bed and doing nothing but study and sleep. Well, this schedule will go on for about seven days more, according to my doctor. Well, my Dadaa is suffering from short term and long term memory loss. So, he is more or less like a child. I some times really enjoy when he does some mischieves and then act like he hasn't done anything. I still remember his pet sentence after such acts keh "Jee Main Tay Kuch Nahien Kittaa Eeee". Well, i love this guy he is so innocent and so, good keh whenever i find him he just starts praising Allah. like Jee Chidyaa udd rahii hay Mashaa-Allah Mashaa-Allaah. Jee Allah Dii Zaaat Daa Karam Hay Jee. Sab Nain Janaan Hay Jeee ........ etc.
This time he is sleeping and still keeeping his hands out of the blanket and i know after few minutes he'll wake up and say keh Sardii bauhat hay jeee. ;) . Still i love this guy. He is great and i am Thankful to Allah that He has given me such a nice fellow as grand father.
Okz now. Got to go and you people can relax now and let me tell you one more time. Intizaar is never gone, GOt iT?
:)

What is attraction for? (Old blog at last published)
Assalaam-O-Alaikum,
Hmmmmmmmmm, I was really busy in my office today. Waisay, sometimes I think that Allah Taa laah nain kiyoon attraction rakhii girls boys main. Waisay, one thing is for sure interest between boys and girls is natural but to control oneself is the test.
Khair, Allah Taa Laah test main kamyaab rehnain kii taufiq farwaa aiiy. Falling in love is natural but I have observed that love between people who fall in love after marriage last long. Cuz, that love accepts all the right and wrong angles of a person and both accept each other with it. Waisay, I agree that many of the times girls have to compromise as men have made their rules like they are written on a rock. But you know what I have observed that intelligent khawateen know how to tackle their husband. One should have understanding of other's behavior. Cuz, nothing is gonna change his love for her all he says is in flow of some problems or emotions and when the water settles he realize what he has been saying and everything becomes crystal clear for him. This whole process requires each other’s attention and people who get engaged has curiosity that what is the nature of other person and have a life time to understand each other. Waisay, hamaray religion main loving somebody is not seen as a bad thing but what I have understood is that it says if you like someone you send your message in her family and if they allow, you get married. That is how I have heard all the marriages of Saahabaah.
SO, as far I have understood our religion says whatever you do, do it till its completion means, the extreme of loving someone is to agree to live with him or her till end of life time. Our religion doesn't appreciate the views now-a-days people have keh nazroon hii nazroon main they can even tell the waist. Aray bhai, agar yeh piyaar hay tou i must ask keh what is lust then? So, I believe in it as well keh whom ever I would love I would make her my wife. Waisay, I said when this event arrives the attitude I have I m not sure keh koi bhii ladki would like to continue the relationship with me. Cuz, I don't allow people to try to figure out what I am I think only people close to me has this right( by people I mean girls ;) ).
Whenever any girl smiles at me or shows some gesture even if she is not thinking like that I instruct myself keh bach bachay bach. Cuz, I know girls are really sensitive about theses matters and the relationship that starts from simple plain talk usually ends up in keh she will even take you to restaurant as well if you tackle her right.
Hey don't take the word tackle in wrong way. So, the more any girl tries to come near to me the more I get the irritation. I would love to love someone who is just mine not like someone ( not everyone ) now-a-days keh fall in love in just one look and try to persuade the person through looks or old time tradition like to cook something for ya or to call you every night or something like this. People get practical I know there are conditions when someone can really love some one but if you have been told that few of all these candies in the bowl are poisoned will ya take one out of it. So, this is my condition I am facing and I have seen many cases when a girl and boy start loving each other and after few days you see them they are like east and west meant, have started separate lives. I don't believe in any such kind of love bhai, whenever somebody approach me I just think keh yaar, if I reject she would definitely be trying somewhere else. I know some people will think keh yeh ladkii tou chaloo hay yaaar. Sorry for this vulgar word but my friends things are not that simple here. Now, hear my next theory behind any girl its the man's role in constructing her ways of going through directly or indirectly. If she is trying to approach it is not always negative she is just trying to get a husband people, a protective place in this society. I don't mind the purpose but don't like the way it has been done. You know what? If a good developer develops some piece of code he knows the pitfalls of that piece of code. In the same way, Allah has created us and He knows what’s good for us. So, instead of giving up everything and start searching for a boy or a girl is stupidity. Whoever is written in your life will get to you. It merely up to you which way you choose, cuz, in both the condition you will get to one and only point. ;)
So, what is needed is to Ask from Allah in Dua tou make the other partner baaaiseh Rehmat for this world's life and for life after death. Cuz, only Maqbool Dua can change your fate. And I always have good Gumaan from Allah Taa Allah.
Okz. Guys wrote a lot of stuff now.

Wake up call
Assalaam-O-Alaikum,
Hmmm....., Aaaj kal hum bemaroon kii seh zindagii guzar rahay hain. Aaaj Jummah ki Namaz chair par padhnaan ajeeb saa lagaaa. Khair, felt fine to pray to Allah. Very nice of my colleague who drove me to mosque in his car. Bhai looog, lagtaa hey keh aaap logoon nain khoob Duaa aiin dii hain in last few weeks. Tou, aisa hay keh I have learned my lesson. Waisay bhii it has been said keh bay zabaanoon koo tang nahien karnaan chaa hiyeh. Tou, yaqeen karoo abb tang nahien karoon gaaa.
Hmmm..., let us leave these sad stories and talk about something else.
It is a long time now since i heard from other people. Prince bhai came along and gone now-a-days. Well, may be busy in keeping his ISP in one part. Whatever i say but believe me guys this guy has real responsibility on his shoulders none of the work could be done without him. I remember one day while we were going on the picnic to Al-Janat farm house we had to plead infront of him to persuade him to come along with us. If he take one off from the office the next day the office is upside down.
Aur kiyaa yaaaar yaqeen nahien hotaa naaan. Bhai, believe it. After every few minutes these people recieve calls regarding the slow speed or no browsing or modem not installed. I don't know about others Prince bhai but i do appreciate the way you people are coping up with responsibilities.
Long time no hearing from Imm bhai. Bhai jaaan abhi blog per nahien aaa rahay hoo tou jab kabhi hum ghar aaa aiiin gay tou paka pata hay keh No Entry For Friends kaa board lagaa hoo gaa. aray bhai kabhi Salaam hii keh diyaa karoo. Khair, i believe you are real busy now-a-days. Khair, atleast do pray for us that Allah always give us courage to follow the right path.
Fadoo bhai, is real busy in Linux kernel and self praising. Yeah, don't believe me? bhai, just look at his msn nick now-a-days.
#define (Genius Guy) (Fawad Lateef)
He himself is too busy in the stuff i mentioned above. Kuch nahien tou fawad bhai yeh hii bataa dou keh abb kitnay kitnay keh set lagaa rahay hooo?
Achaa tou abb chaltay hain keh i have an appointment with physiotherapist.

UP is the word
Why it takes awhile to understand English!!.
There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meaning than any other two-letter word, and that is "UP."
It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we waken in the morning, why do we wake UP?
At a meeting, why does a topic come UP?
Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report?
We call UP our friends, we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver, we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen.
We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car.
At other times the little word has real special meaning.
People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses.
To be dressed is one thing but to be dressed UP is special.
And this UP is confusing:
A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP.
We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.
We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP.
To be knowledgeable of the proper uses of UP, look UP the word in the dictionary. In a desk size dictionary, takes UP almost 1/4th the page and definitions add UP to about thirty.
If you are UP to! it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP, you may wind UP with a hundred or more.
When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP.
When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP.
When it rains, it wets UP the earth. When it doesn't rain for awhile, things dry UP.
One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP, for now my time is UP, so I'll shut UP.....
If you're looking for a spouse lower your gaze (an article on soundvision)
This may seem like a contradiction, but it's not. Looking for a spouse who has the right qualities and whom you are physically attracted to does not mean throwing out the obligation to lower the gaze for both sexes and leering or ogling the person.“Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and be modest. That is purer for them. Lo! Allah is aware of what they do” (Quran 24:30).“And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and be modest, and to display of their adornment only that which is apparent, and to draw their veils over their bosoms...” (Quran 24:31).“Scoping the territory”, from this perspective, would not be Islamically acceptable.Imam Nur Abdullah notes that looking at a potential mate is recommended according to the Hadith:Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: The Prophet said: “When one of you asked a woman in marriage, if he is able to look at what will induce him to marry her, he should do so. ...” (Abu Dawud). This means the two potential spouses can look at each other but not ogle or stare.Abdullah also notes there is no limit on the number of times the two people can look at each other. However, both should fear Allah and remember the purpose of this is to satisfy the need for physical attraction to the person you are marrying. He also notes it is not permissible for a man to see a potential wife without Hijab, since he is not her Mahram (a relative with whom marriage is not possible, or legally her husband). Abdullah says seeing her face and hands are enough to determine attraction.
what am I looking for in a spouse (an article on soundvision)
Abu Hurairah related that the Prophet Muhammad said: “Men choose women for four reasons: for their money, for their rank, for their beauty and for their religion, but marry one who is religious and you will succeed” (Bukhari, Muslim). This of course, applies to women as well. However, religion it seems, is not always foremost in the minds of many people. In fact, it's probably the last factor on too many Muslims' list.According to Tasneem Qadeer, one of the seven volunteers who runs the Islamic Society of North America's matrimonial service, being a doctor or a lawyer is much more important to many Muslim women than piety. And the men are not any better. Many matrimonial advertisements for instance, demonstrate a key demand for a wife who is “fair, slim and beautiful”.“If we want to have healthy Muslim families then Deen has to be first,” says Aneesah Nadir, Director of Social Services for the Arizona Muslim Family Health and Social Services in Tempe. She is one of the co-developers of the program “Marriage the Islamic way”, which teaches various aspects of marriage such as how to find a spouse, the wedding and the post-wedding marriage relationship with your spouse.
Ilaaj Kii Kiss Kou Zarorat Hay!
Assalaam-O-Alaikum,
Hmmm.., I, Aay Dee and one of our close friend was standing on the beach and were talking on government statements now-a-days. During our discussion we started talking about Peshawar's condition. Well, our friend got real excited while telling us the statement Musharaf bhai gave on the ban on Models related banners and stuff. Well, according to Peshawar's official it was banned because it is not good to look at Na-Mehram. And i believe most of us know what feeling it gives us while looking at Model's posters. Khair, tou i was talking about the Musharaf bhai's statement. He said,"If you guys feel something just by looking at the pictures then you should go and examine yourself by doctor or something". Well, at that day i didn't give this thing much of the attention. Cuz, it seemed too stupid to me. Khair, today it just came into my mind and i realized that agar any Muslim bhai don't feel anything strange by looking tou meray bhai, Ilaaj kii aap logoon kou shadeed zaroorat hay.
And i know most of you guys must know what is that cure.
Unable to guess?
Well, it is simple bhai just lower your gaze and you will start to feel. Chandaa, Baday Tasveerain daikh kar nahien hotay hain balkeh Burai seh bach kar hotay hain.
Khair, got to go now.
Allah-Hafiz.

Why I want to get married (an article on soundvision)
Assalaam-O-Alaikum,
This is a question which everybody should ask with himself and here is the answer i found in this article.
‘Because all of my friends are' is not a legitimate reason. This is a good question to ask even if you are meeting the person to make a final decision because it will be a reminder about the real purpose of marriage from an Islamic perspective. Marriage, from an Islamic perspective, is part of faith and it is part of the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).As well, “my intention should be I am looking for someone with whom I will build a family,” says Imam Muhammad Nur Abdullah of St. Louis, Missouri, a member of the North American Fiqh Council. He has conducted pre-marriage counseling in the U.S. for the last 20 years.“Marriage is a commitment and relationship that starts in this Dunya (world) and will continue Insha Allah in Paradise together,” he adds.
So, what i learned from it is that one should supress his other demands infront of islamic perspectives which definitely give him pleasure and prosperity in world and after death.
Allah-Hafiz.

Tou kab BadaaA hoO gaA Dost
Assalaam-O-Alaikum,
Hummm..., you people must be thinking what this duffer is talking about. Well, guys it happened like this. I wrote a blog in which i wrote some of my views on pious matter on which Aay Dee commented and I realized that i should not comment with my views. Hence, i said sorry to those people who might have read it.
Laikin khair, Ammar bhai, I think what ever happens you will stay like this. Khair, abb yeh nahien kehdainaan keh "Issi baat peh aik pappi day doo" Ooooh Bhai, Tou bada kab hoo gaa yaaar. Khair, if my comment on NASA has hit some of your feelings then it made me think keh how do u survive in this world. Man, if these things can start a reaction in you then what will be the impact of simple words like "Lay loo", "Day doo", .... etc on you.
Yaaar, you are an engineer well, thats what UIT says ;).
Hmmm..., apart from criticism i liked your bloged. Well, you have this ability to make a Chargah. And i think Pakistani film industry is in need of such thing. Tou, Insha-Allah you guys will see my new blog very sooon.
Till then
Allah-Hafiz.
